The US-based New York Entertainment Movement Inc, which was formed in 2003, has been a lifelong dream for its president Wayne A Gordon. Gordon, who is originally from Manchester, got his jump start as a promoter in the early 1990's when he relocated to the Jones Town area of Kingston.

While living in Kingston he promoted several dancehall sessions with the popular No Retreat, No Surrender Promotions featuring sound systems such as Stone Love and Metro Media. Over the years, New York Entertainment has successfully staged various events both in New York and Jamaica, the most recent of which was the Unity Is Strength family fun day and stage show in Comfort, Manchester last year.

The company also owns and operates a subsidiary called New York Entertainment Movement Records. Both entities are run by Gordon and his wife Lorna Channer-Gordon who came on board in the capacity of vice-president in 2006. She brings to the team 14 years of marketing experience garnered while working with entities including Courts Jamaica Ltd, the Jamaica Observer, Jamaica Lottery Company and Jamaica Cultural Development Commission.

The label has been working with established acts as well as up-and-coming talent. Its project include the Controversy and the Changes rhythms.
